“Although the fact is that children are at far greater risk of abuse, violence, and murder by their own parents than anyone else, cultural panic about child safety attaches far disproportionately to the monster figure of the pedophile stranger-abductor.” —Bound and Gagged: Pornography and the Politics of Fantasy in America by Laura Kipnis (via aheartfullofnapalm)

Mother of girl featured in shocking anti-abortion billboard is outraged by ad: 'I want an apology' → nydailynews.com

amantesuntamentes:

A controversial billboard in Soho equating abortion among black women with genocide was yanked Thursday night.Bowing to heavy pressure, Lamar Advertising Co. agreed to pull the ad above Sixth Ave. and Watts St., which featured a picture of a young black girl below the message, “The most dangerous place for African Americans is in the womb.”

The shocking billboard blind-sided New Jersey mom Tricia Fraser, who was furious that her 6-year-old daughter, Anissa, was featured in the anti-abortion group Life Always’s ad.

“I want an apology,” Fraser, 36, told the Daily News. “I’m happy that it’s [being taken down], but at the same time I’m concerned that they can use that image again.”

Fraser said she brought Anissa and her three other kids to a modeling agency two years ago.

She knew the photos could be used as stock images, but never imagined her daughter might become the face of an anti-abortion campaign centered around African Americans.

“I was devastated that they portrayed her like that,” said Fraser, of Paterson, N.J.

dear angry porcupine
who replaces my uterus
every month and
attends wild parties
where they play
boom, shake shake shake
the room
for a week
and all you do is
jump
shake
move
swing

KNOCK IT THE FUCK OFF.

i can’t move
the pills are right there
on my dresser
and i can’t move
because you think
you can breakdance
and i feel so weak
you think you will
be the next great

KNOCK IT THE FUCK OFF.

i have 1 more week in this stressful ass house.  no more unruly house pets, no more thieving housemate.

it looks like i’m going back to mom’s for a bit, as i’m most undoubtedly on the precipice of a job. (yay?) i’ve got angst about that. but i have angst about everything.

i hope these folks are okay w/ my salary requirements. i need them not to BS me.

i also need a haircut before this interview.

i hate interviews.

i don’t know if my anxiety & depression have subsided enough for me to work again.

thank god this job is part time. i guess.

i feel pressure already.

i’m gonna have to do something about that.

President Barack Obama has signed a three-month extension of key surveillance provisions of the Patriot Act.

The law extends two areas of the 2001 act. One provision allows law enforcement officials to set roving wiretaps to monitor multiple communication devices. The other allows them to ask a special court for access to business and library records that could be relevant to a terrorist threat.

A third provision gives the FBI court-approved rights for surveillance of non-American “lone wolf” suspects - those not known to be tied to specific terrorist groups.

Obama signed the three-month extension of the provisions Friday. They were to expire Monday.

Lawmakers will soon start debating a multiple-year extension of the provisions, which have drawn fire from defenders of privacy rights.

like, olde english, sort of. i now present to you, tumblr, “slow motion.”

oh! i do enjoy it in that manner,

the way she doth undulate her sacroiliac;

forsooth! i am uncertain as to how best to conduct myself.

as she moves slowly on my behalf,

so slowly on my behalf.

lady, please do move slowly on my behalf!
